About Randy Landen
Randy Landen lives in Derby, Kansas, just south of Wichita. His love for carving began in 1977, when he and his wife Carol bought their first woodcarving at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri. Although they enjoy a wide range of carving styles, caricatures dominate their woodcarving collection.
Randy began carving in 1990 at the Woodcarving Rendezvous in Branson. His carvings are heavily influenced by early instructors Ed Zinger, Dave Dunham, and Harold Enlow, as well as the unique and sometimes entertaining situations he encountered during his 33 years with the Wichita Police Department. After retiring from the police department in 2013, Randy served as the Director of Executive Protection at Koch Industries, retiring “for real” in September of 2020. He holds a master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Wichita State University and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
Elected to the CCA in 1994, Randy has served as the President, Vice-President, and Secretary. He is proud to have been involved in the development of the National Caricature Carving Competition and has contributed to the CCA’s numerous book projects.
Randy has carvings in private collections around the US, as well as the CCA Signature Collection on display at Peter Engler Designs in Branson, MO. He has given caricature carving and painting seminars across the United States and served as judge at a variety of woodcarving shows throughout the country, including the CCA National Caricature Carving competition and the International Wood Carvers Congress.
Randy sells carvings from private collections for their respective owners. If you would like to sell a carving, or a collection, please contact me. And….if you’re looking for a unique carving or gift….click on the “Carvings for Sale” page.
